Privacy Policy
Effective Date: Oct 31, 2025
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") governs the manner in which FuturePost ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users ("User," "you," or "your") of the FuturePost service (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Policy.
2. INFORMATION COLLECTION
2.1 Personal Identification Information
We collect personal identification information from Users in various ways, including when Users register on the Service. Information collected may include, but is not limited to: email address, name (if provided), and account credentials. Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard cryptographic hashing algorithms and are not accessible in plain text form.
2.2 User-Generated Content
The Service allows Users to create and store letters ("User Content"). Important Notice: User Content, including the complete text of your letters, is stored in plain text format in our database systems. While we implement access controls and security measures to protect this data, User Content is not encrypted at rest. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Your letters are stored as unencrypted text on our servers
- Database administrators and authorized personnel may have technical access to view your letters for operational, security, or legal compliance purposes
- You should not include highly sensitive personal information (such as financial data, social security numbers, or medical records) in your letters
- Scheduled delivery dates, visibility settings, and metadata associated with your letters are also stored
2.3 Public Letters
The Service provides Users with the option to designate certain letters as "public." If you elect to make a letter public:
- The letter content becomes accessible to anyone with internet access
- The letter may be indexed and cached by search engines
- We collect analytics data regarding views and interactions with your public letters
- While you may change a public letter back to private at any time, copies previously cached or shared by third parties may remain accessible
Privacy Warning: Public letters are not subject to the same privacy protections as private letters. Exercise caution and do not include personal information you wish to keep confidential.
2.4 Non-Personal Identification Information
We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with the Service. This may include: browser type, device information, IP address, operating system, timestamp data, referring/exit pages, and other technical information related to your use of the Service.
2.5 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Service employs cookies and similar tracking technologies for authentication, session management, and preference storage. These are essential for the proper functioning of the Service. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
3. USE OF COLLECTED INFORMATION
FuturePost collects and uses User information for the following purposes:

4. DATA PROTECTION AND SECURITY
We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Secure socket layer (SSL/TLS) encryption for data transmission
- Restricted access controls limiting database access to authorized personnel only
- Regular security assessments and updates

Disclaimer: However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You acknowledge and accept that you provide information at your own risk.
5. INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information or User Content to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Public Letters: If you elect to make a letter public, that letter content will be accessible to anyone, including third parties, search engines, and the general public. You grant us permission to publicly display such letters. We have no control over how third parties use or share your public letters once they are made public
- Service Providers: We may engage trusted third-party service providers to perform functions on our behalf (e.g., hosting, email delivery, database management). These parties are contractually obligated to maintain confidentiality and use information only for the purposes for which it was disclosed
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity, subject to this Policy
- With Your Consent: We may share information for any other purpose disclosed to you with your explicit consent
6. DATA RETENTION
We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal information and User Content from our active databases within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal retention requirements. Certain information may be retained in backup systems for a limited period.
Note on Public Letters: If you previously designated letters as public, those letters may have been cached by search engines, archived by third parties, or otherwise copied.
